Splitty compared with SplitMyExpenses
SplitMyExpenses column checked 20 October 2026. SplitMyExpenses is a trademark of its owner. The homepage footer says VuxByte LLC owns and operates it. SplitMyExpenses is not affiliated with Splitty. The SplitMyExpenses column describes only what its own public pages and store listings stated on that date.
SplitMyExpenses is a bill splitter on the web, iOS and Android with unlimited expenses on its free plan, and a Premium plan that itemizes receipts and imports spending from linked cards and bank accounts. Splitty was built for a different group: people who do not share one language, who pool money into a kitty before they spend it, and who want the trip itself, the flights, the stays and the receipts, in the same place as the balances.
| Feature | Splitty | SplitMyExpenses |
|---|---|---|
| Languages | 52, including Arabic, Farsi, Urdu and Hebrew with full right-to-left layout. Each member of a trip can read it in a different language. | The US App Store listing names 1 language: English. No right-to-left language is on the list (no Arabic, Farsi, Urdu or Hebrew). |
| Shared kitty | First-class: contributions into a pool and expenses out of it are tracked separately, so a pooled fund and a spend-as-you-go trip both work. | Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Multi-currency | Any currency per expense, with the rate stored on the trip so later edits do not rewrite history. A free trip uses up to 2 currencies, the base included. Pro removes that limit. | The store listings and homepage say 150+ currencies are supported. Automatic currency conversion is a Premium feature; the pricing section says "Convert expenses to 100+ currencies". |
| Receipts | Photograph a receipt onto any expense. | AI receipt itemization is Premium: upload a photo and the receipt is split into items so each person can be charged per item. The free plan shows "AI receipt itemization: none". Attaching a receipt photo without itemization was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Trip itinerary | Flights, stays and a day-by-day plan live alongside the money. | Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Apple Wallet pass | A trip pass that updates on the lock screen as the balance moves. | Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Export | CSV of every transaction, and a PDF trip report. | CSV export in the free plan (store listings). Import from CSV, Excel or TXT files, and from Splitwise (homepage). |
| Joining | An invite link opens in any browser and a guest can join without an account. | Share the unique group invite link, and friends "can register to the platform to get started" (homepage FAQ). A way to join without an account was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Install and offline | Free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android. The installable web app also works on Android and desktop and opens offline. | Web, iOS (iPhone and iPad, iOS 16.4 or later) and Android. The store listings say "web plus native mobile access". Offline use was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Price | Free tier with up to 12 active members and 2 currencies per group. Splitty Pro is OMR 1.500 a month or OMR 12.000 a year. | Free: $0 a month, with unlimited expenses, imports up to 1 month old, and 10 recurring expenses in total. Premium: $3.99 a month, with receipt scanning, imports from up to 10 years ago, up to 100 recurring expenses, up to 50 linked cards and bank accounts, default splits, currency conversion and priority processing (homepage pricing). The US App Store lists Premium monthly $3.99, and two "Premium yearly" items at $34.99 and $24.99. A yearly price in the website text was not identified on 20 October 2026. |
| Everyday groups | Circles: repeat groups for lunches, nights out and shared homes, with no trip dates. | The official materials describe bill splitting for roommates, couples, friends and trips. |
When SplitMyExpenses is the better answer
If the group pays by Venmo, PayPal, Cash App or Zelle, SplitMyExpenses opens those apps to settle, and its store listings also name UPI. Premium splits a receipt photo into items, with tax, tip and extras, and links up to 50 cards and bank accounts to import expenses every day. It can import files in CSV, Excel or TXT, and bring in Splitwise groups, expenses, debts and friends. The free plan has no limit on friends, groups or expenses, and it has recurring bills with weekly to yearly reminders. It splits by equal parts, amounts, percentages, shares, adjustments and items.
When Splitty is the better answer
If the group does not all read English, Splitty has 52 languages, including Arabic, Farsi, Urdu and Hebrew with right-to-left layout, and each member can read the same trip in a different language. A guest can join from an invite link in any browser without an account. If money goes into a pool first, a trip fund, a household kitty or a family contribution, Splitty records contributions and spending as separate things. If the trip has flights, stays and a day plan, they sit on the same trip as the money, with a Wallet pass on the lock screen. For the same people again and again, a circle keeps a running balance for lunches, nights out and a shared home, with no trip dates. A circle can also split a bill by item, with tax, tip and service following each person's share. That works on the web, and in the next app update.
What Splitty does not do
Splitty does not move money. It records who paid, who owes and who has settled. The payment itself happens wherever the group already banks. Splitty is not a payment provider and holds no funds. SplitMyExpenses opens payment apps such as Venmo, PayPal and Cash App to settle.
