Splitty compared with Splitwise

Splitwise column checked 2026-07-30. Splitwise is a product of Splitwise, Inc. and is not affiliated with Splitty; that column describes only what its own public pages stated on that date.

Splitwise is the reference point for splitting expenses between friends, and for a group of English-speaking friends settling pairwise debts it is a reasonable answer. Splitty was built for a different group: people who do not share one language, who pool money into a kitty before they spend it, and who want the trip itself, the flights, the stays, the receipts, in the same place as the balances.

When Splitwise is the better answer

If the group is small, reads English, and simply wants a running tab between two or three people, Splitwise does that and has done it for years, on both app stores. Splitty is on the App Store and is not on Google Play; Android members install it from the browser instead.

When Splitty is the better answer

If the group spans languages, and particularly if some of it reads Arabic, Urdu or Farsi, Splitty renders the same trip right-to-left for those members and left-to-right for the rest. If money is collected into a pool first, a trip fund, a household kitty, a family contribution, Splitty models that directly instead of reconstructing it from pairwise debts. And if the trip has an itinerary, receipts and a lock-screen pass to carry, all of that sits on the same trip as the money.

What Splitty does not do

Splitty does not move money. It records who paid, who owes and who has settled; the payment itself happens wherever the group already banks. It is not a payment provider and holds no funds.
