Splitty helps groups split trip and shared expenses. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- Account: your email address or phone number (used only to sign you in with a one-time code) and the display name you choose. Splitty has no passwords.
- Trip data: the trips, members, expenses, contributions and settlements you create. This is the content of the app and is shared only with the members of your trips.
- Payments: Apple processes purchases made in the iOS app through your App Store account. Paymob processes payments made on the web, including eligible card and Apple Pay payments. Splitty never sees or stores your full card details. We receive only the purchase status and identifiers needed to provide, restore, or support what you bought.
- Device tokens: if you enable notifications, we store a push token so we can notify you (for example when someone adds an expense). If you add a Wallet pass, we store a device identifier so the pass can update.
How we use it
- To sign you in, run your trips, and calculate balances.
- To send the notifications you turn on and keep your Apple Wallet pass current.
- To provide and bill the Pro subscription if you choose it.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see your data
Other members of a trip see that trip's shared expenses and balances. That is the point of the app. Nobody outside your trips sees your data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers needed to run Splitty (our hosting, our email/WhatsApp code delivery, and our payment provider), each only for that purpose.
Keeping it secure
Data is sent over encrypted HTTPS and stored on our servers. Sign-in codes are single-use and expire quickly. You control your notification and Wallet permissions from your device settings at any time.
Your choices
- Turn notifications off from your device settings.
- Leave a trip or delete an expense at any time in the app.
- Delete your account directly from Settings in the app, or ask us for help with a deletion request by email.
Children
Splitty is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
