Splitty compared with Settle Up
Settle Up column checked 20 October 2026. Settle Up is a trademark of its owner. The terms of service on its website name Step Up Labs Inc., United States, as the operator. Settle Up is not affiliated with Splitty. The Settle Up column describes only what its own public pages and store listings stated on that date.
Settle Up is a group expense tracker that runs on Android, iOS and the web, works offline, and plans the transfers that settle the group. Splitty was built for a different group: people who do not share one language, who pool money into a kitty before they spend it, and who want the trip itself, the flights, the stays and the receipts, in the same place as the balances.
| Feature | Splitty | Settle Up |
|---|---|---|
| Languages | 52, including Arabic, Farsi, Urdu and Hebrew with full right-to-left layout. Each member of a trip can read it in a different language. | The US App Store listing names 16 languages: Catalan, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish and Chinese. Persian (Farsi) is a right-to-left language on the list. Arabic, Urdu and Hebrew are not on the list. The Google Play listing says it "is translated to many languages". |
| Shared kitty | First-class: contributions into a pool and expenses out of it are tracked separately, so a pooled fund and a spend-as-you-go trip both work. | The Google Play listing and the Tips page describe incomes: money the group receives, such as a returned deposit, which reduces total spending. A separate pooled-fund feature was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Multi-currency | Any currency per expense, with the rate stored on the trip so later edits do not rewrite history. A free trip uses up to 2 currencies, the base included. Pro removes that limit. | Yes. The store listings say it offers all currencies with real-time exchange rates. The Tips page says rates download automatically from a Yahoo service at each day's rate, and a member can edit the rate. |
| Receipts | Photograph a receipt onto any expense. | Receipt photos are a Premium feature (App Store and Google Play listings). The Google Play listing also says you can add items from a long bill. |
| Trip itinerary | Flights, stays and a day-by-day plan live alongside the money. | Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Apple Wallet pass | A trip pass that updates on the lock screen as the balance moves. | Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Export | CSV of every transaction, and a PDF trip report. | CSV export by email in the free app (Google Play listing). Excel export is a Premium feature (App Store and Google Play listings). |
| Joining | An invite link opens in any browser and a guest can join without an account. | Invite by link or QR code. The App Store listing says friends can view the balance in their browser without downloading anything, and the Google Play listing says not every member needs the app. Whether a person who joins must create an account was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026. |
| Install and offline | Free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android. The installable web app also works on Android and desktop and opens offline. | The Google Play listing names Android, iOS and the web. The web app is at settleup.app. The App Store lists iPhone and iPad (iOS 17.4 or later). The store listings say it works offline and syncs when back online. The support page also gives a feedback address for a Windows app. |
| Price | Free tier with up to 12 active members and 2 currencies per group. Splitty Pro is OMR 1.500 a month or OMR 12.000 a year. | Free to download. The Google Play listing shows "Contains ads" and "In-app purchases". The US App Store lists Monthly Premium $3.99, Yearly Premium $19.99, Group Premium $39.99, Group Premium for 1 week $5.99, for 2 weeks $9.99, for 1 month $14.99, for 2 months $29.99, for 1 year $39.99, and Lifetime Group Premium $149.99. The Tips page says Group Premium is enabled for everyone in one group and is "a one-time payment, it's not a subscription". The terms say Premium is explained in the app and name no price. |
| Everyday groups | Circles: repeat groups for lunches, nights out and shared homes, with no trip dates. | The official materials describe groups for travellers, flatmates, couples and other groups. |
When Settle Up is the better answer
If the group wants one app on many platforms, Settle Up runs on Android, iOS and the web, works offline and syncs later. It plans the transfers that settle the group, and you can turn that off to pay direct debts only. Friends can see the balance in a browser without installing anything, and invites go by link or QR code. It handles several payers on one expense, incomes, default shares for couples or families and recurring transactions. It also has a public developer API, answers through voice assistants, and can import members and balances from Splitwise. A Farsi interface is on its App Store language list, as it is in Splitty.
When Splitty is the better answer
If some of the group reads Arabic, Urdu or Hebrew, Splitty has those languages with right-to-left layout, and each member can read the same trip in a different language. If money goes into a pool first, a trip fund, a household kitty or a family contribution, Splitty records contributions and spending as separate things. If the trip has flights, stays and a day plan, they sit on the same trip as the money, with a Wallet pass on the lock screen. Settle Up lists receipt photos and Excel export as Premium features. Splitty takes a receipt photo on any expense and exports CSV and a PDF trip report. And for the same people again and again, a circle keeps a running balance for lunches, nights out and a shared home, with no trip dates.
What Splitty does not do
Splitty does not move money. It records who paid, who owes and who has settled. The payment itself happens wherever the group already banks. Splitty is not a payment provider and holds no funds.
