Splitty compared with Kittysplit

Kittysplit column checked 20 October 2026. Kittysplit is a trademark of its owner. The imprint on its website names Kittysplit UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Berlin. Kittysplit is not affiliated with Splitty. In Kittysplit, a Kitty is the name for one group or event. The Kittysplit column describes only what its own public pages and store listings stated on that date.

Kittysplit splits group costs from one secret link that opens in any browser, with no account and no app needed, and a free Kitty has no limit on expenses. Splitty was built for a different group: people who do not share one language, who pool money into a kitty before they spend it, and who want the trip itself, the flights, the stays and the receipts, in the same place as the balances.

FeatureSplittyKittysplit
Languages 52, including Arabic, Farsi, Urdu and Hebrew with full right-to-left layout. Each member of a trip can read it in a different language. The US App Store listing names 8 languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. The website offers the same 8. No right-to-left language is on the list (no Arabic, Farsi, Urdu or Hebrew).
Shared kitty First-class: contributions into a pool and expenses out of it are tracked separately, so a pooled fund and a spend-as-you-go trip both work. "Kitty" is the product's name for a group or event, not a pooled fund. The help center describes an Income tab for money coming into the group, such as a returned deposit, received by one person. A separate pooled-fund feature was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026.
Multi-currency Any currency per expense, with the rate stored on the trip so later edits do not rewrite history. A free trip uses up to 2 currencies, the base included. Pro removes that limit. Super Kitty only. Each Kitty has a home currency set at creation. With Super Kitty, expenses in other currencies convert to the home currency at the rate for the expense date (help center). The store listings say automatic conversion in 120+ currencies.
Receipts Photograph a receipt onto any expense. Super Kitty only: attach photos to expenses, for example a bill (store listings and pricing page).
Trip itinerary Flights, stays and a day-by-day plan live alongside the money. Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026.
Apple Wallet pass A trip pass that updates on the lock screen as the balance moves. Not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026.
Export CSV of every transaction, and a PDF trip report. Expenses, calculations and balances export as XLSX (help center). The store listings say "Export to a Spreadsheet".
Joining An invite link opens in any browser and a guest can join without an account. No account needed. The help center says "Accounts are entirely optional" and the secret Kitty link is all anyone needs. Friends do not need the app; the link opens in any browser.
Install and offline Free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android. The installable web app also works on Android and desktop and opens offline. Native apps for iOS (iPhone and iPad, iOS 15.5 or later) and Android, since 2025 (help center). The web version works on any device with a browser, and the help center says web and apps are kept "on equal footing feature-wise". Offline use was not identified in the official materials checked on 20 October 2026.
Price Free tier with up to 12 active members and 2 currencies per group. Splitty Pro is OMR 1.500 a month or OMR 12.000 a year. Kitty Free: free "forever", up to 9 people, unlimited expenses. Super Kitty: €2.99, one payment per group, up to 100 people, with multiple currencies, default shares, preset couple and family splits, receipt and photo attachments, category insights and a read-only link (pricing page). The US App Store lists "Super Kitty Upgrade" at $2.99. Google Play shows "In-app purchases" and no "Contains ads" label.
Everyday groups Circles: repeat groups for lunches, nights out and shared homes, with no trip dates. The official materials describe groups for trips, events, couples and households.

When Kittysplit is the better answer

If nobody in the group wants an account, a password or an app, Kittysplit works from a secret link in any browser. It charges once per group instead of a subscription: Super Kitty is €2.99 for one Kitty, and the free tier has no limit on expenses. The company says its web version and native apps have the same features. It lists a history of all changes to a Kitty, categories and a read-only link (Super Kitty), and default shares and grouped participants for couples and families (Super Kitty).

When Splitty is the better answer

If some of the group reads Arabic, Farsi, Urdu or Hebrew, Splitty has those languages with right-to-left layout, and each member can read the same trip in a different language. If money goes into a pool first, a trip fund, a household kitty or a family contribution, Splitty records contributions and spending as separate things. A free Splitty trip takes up to 2 currencies, the base included; Kittysplit lists other currencies under Super Kitty. If the trip has flights, stays and a day plan, they sit on the same trip as the money, with a Wallet pass on the lock screen. And for the same people again and again, a circle keeps a running balance for lunches, nights out and a shared home, with no trip dates.

What Splitty does not do

Splitty does not move money. It records who paid, who owes and who has settled. The payment itself happens wherever the group already banks. Splitty is not a payment provider and holds no funds.
